FELT ANGEL WINGS IN-THE-HOOP

If you enjoy making tree-top angels and decorative figures, you’ll find these quick-stitch wings handy. There are several different styles to choose from, and each comes in several sizes.  Depending on size and style, you can stitch up a pair in as little as 5 minutes!

ANGEL WINGS STYLE 1

Angel Wings Style #1 includes two sizes: 5" tall or just under 4" tall. Stitch a pair in under 7 minutes for the 5" size, and in just about 5 minutes for the 4" size.

I stitched the pair above on white organza over white felt, using metallic blue thread. 

You can change the look quite dramatically but substituting patterned organza. The pair below were stitched using metallic gold thread on patterned organza over white felt. 

Changing the color of the thread, or using iridescent or even ordinary colored rayon thread, can change the effect; altering the organza can do so even more dramatically.

ANGEL WINGS STYLE 2

Angel Wings Style #2 includes two sizes: 5" tall or just under 4" tall. Stitch a pair in just under 6 minutes for the 5" size, and just under 5 minutes for the 4" size.

Like Style #1, these wings were stitched on organza over a foundation of felt and medium-weight stabilizer. To make the pair above, I used a shiny plain organza over white felt, stitched with silver metallic thread. The second pair, below, was made using a glittery star-patterned organza over white felt, stitched with gold metallic thread.

ANGEL WINGS STYLE 3

Angel Wings Style #3 includes in two sizes: 5" tall or just under 4" tall. Stitch a pair in about 7 minutes for the 5" size, and about 5 minutes for the 4" size.

I stitched the 5" pair just above on gold lame fabric over felt, using gold metallic thread. The 4" pair below was sewn on organza patterned with metallic gold stars, over white felt, again using gold metallic thread.

ANGEL WINGS STYLE 4

Angel Wings Style #3 includestwo sizes: 5" tall or just under 4" tall. Stitch a pair inabout 7 minutes for the 5" size, and about 5 minutes for the 4" size.

This par was stitched on a sparkly finetulle over white felt, using gold metallic thread. The close-up shows the stitch detail more plainly.

The same tulle/felt combination stitched wth silver thread looks quite a bit different. 

Changing the angle at which you place the wings on your angel will also change the appearance.
